When can you fly after treatment?
This is often overlooked — and it's a real risk. A study in the British Dental Journal (Felkai et al., 2023) sets out evidence-based minimum intervals before flying:

Is it really worth travelling to Lisbon for dental treatment?
For extensive treatments such as implants, All-on-4 or multiple veneers, the savings are substantial — typically 50-70% versus the UK, even after flights and accommodation. For simple treatments like a scale and polish, the savings don't justify the trip.
How many trips are needed for implants or All-on-4?
For All-on-4 with immediate loading, typically two trips. The first (5-7 days) covers assessment, 3D CT scan, any extractions, surgery and a fixed temporary bridge. The second (3-6 months later, 2-3 days) is for the final prosthesis. Between visits we follow up by email and video call.
Can I fly straight after surgery?
Not immediately. Based on a British Dental Journal study (Felkai et al., 2023): minimum 24-48 hours after simple extractions, 72 hours after more complex surgery, and 6 weeks after a sinus lift. We always plan treatment around your flight dates.
Does the clinic speak English?
Yes. Our team communicates in English, French, Spanish and Portuguese. All clinical documentation can be provided in English for continuity of care back home.
How do I send my X-rays before travelling?
By email or WhatsApp. We accept DICOM files (3D CT), digital panoramic X-rays or good-quality photos. Based on the images we prepare a preliminary assessment and indicative quote. A definitive plan requires an in-person consultation with new imaging.
What if I have a complication after returning home?
We provide complete clinical documentation in English — treatment plan, implant references, photos — so any dentist can continue your care. We're also available by video call. Serious complications are rare, and when they occur they can usually be managed locally with our documentation.
